The University of Alabama School of Library and Information Studies seeks a faculty
member for a full-time, tenure-track position in the MFA in the Book Arts program to
begin August 2018 at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The University of Alabama School of Library and Information Studies seeks a faculty
member for a full-time, tenure-track position in the MFA in the Book Arts program to
begin August 2018 at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will have considerable opportunity to shape the character and direction of the MFA in the Book Arts Program as it as it continues to integrate historical Book Arts practices with new technologies. This faculty member is expected to maintain an active role in advising graduate students and participating in professional organizations at the state, national, and international levels. The teaching load is two courses per semester. All faculty members are expected to work with diverse constituencies, teach in the core curriculum, and maintain a rigorous creative/research agenda.

Qualifications:
• An earned MFA in Book Arts and/or terminal degree in a related field.
• Demonstrated teaching ability in the areas of letterpress printing and hand paper-making and/or bookbinding.
• Documented evidence of ability to maintain a sustained and rigorous creative/research agenda.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional service.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituencies

This position requires a highly organized individual with a commitment to outstanding
job performance and demonstrated aptitude for, and experience in, effective leadership,
teaching, and studio practice. Candidates must have excellent oral and written
communication skills, and demonstrate an ability to be flexible and positive in the work
environment.
