The Department of Psychology at The University of Alabama has openings for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level in either Clinical Geropsychology or Clinical Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine, starting August 16, 2018. These positions will play an important role in our APA accredited Ph.D. training program, which serves approximately 100 students in seven concentrations. The Clinical Geropsychology concentration has three psychologists with research interests in psychological treatments for older adults; health disparities; interventions to reduce stress in older adults and caregivers; chronic pain; nursing home organizational change and quality of care; cultural dynamics of healthcare decision making; and clinical training. The Alabama Research Institute on Aging provides opportunities for university-wide collaboration. The Clinical Health Psychology concentration has two core faculty with research interests in behavioral sleep medicine and in factitious and somatic symptom disorders. The concentration particularly welcomes applicants with expertise in internet-based approaches to health assessments and interventions, health disparities, and integration of behavioral health into primary care. Collaborations with UA Medical School researchers, both in Tuscaloosa and nearby Birmingham, are common and well supported.
