Position: Associate/Full Professor in Educational Research (Tenure Track)

The Educational Research program at the University of Alabama, College of Education seeks an associate or full level professor in Social Research Methodologies, broadly defined. Applicants should either be a research methodologist with a substantive focus within social research or a developmental researcher/theorist with a specific methodological specialization. The primary focus of this position is to lead the creation of a newly named Center for Applied Statistics and Evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g. Quantitative Research Methods, Education, Psychology, Biostatistics)

Evidence of expertise and research productivity in one of the following areas in the context of the social sciences: latent variable models; survival and event history analysis; multivariate, multi-faceted developmental processes; longitudinal modeling of large national databases; Bayesian statistics; data mining.

Interest in educational applications broadly defined

Ability to work with students and faculty in a variety of disciplines

Strong writing and communication skills
Commitment to working with diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated general knowledge and experience in teaching Educational Research, Applied Statistics, & Developmental Social Research

Evidence of participation in national professional organizations

Familiarity or expertise in the characterization and parameterization of both observed and unobserved population heterogeneity in cross-sectional and longitudinal settings using finite mixture models

Responsibilities:
