3 Positions Open for Assistant Professor of Kinesiology – Exercise Science (Tenure Track)

The University of Alabama, Alabama’s flagship university, is a comprehensive institution whose mission is to advance the intellectual and social condition of the people of the State and the nation through quality programs of teaching, research, and service. The College of Education maintains a large array of degree programs and is heavily involved in research and outreach activities throughout the Southeast region. The College seeks energetic, creative and intellectually-empowered faculty members with strong research pedigrees who can contribute to the mission of the College and help to advance its growing national prominence. The exercise science faculty in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Alabama invites applications to fill 3 full-time, tenure track positions at the assistant professor rank in exercise science to begin August 2018.

New faculty are needed to help with the tremendous growth in exercise science the university has experienced in recent years. There are currently 6 faculty in this area. Current research emphases include physical activity, sedentary behavior, body composition, and cardiometabolic health outcomes; physiological adaptation to physical training and athlete monitoring; meta-analysis and evidenced-based methodology; cardiovascular and thermoregulatory responses to heat stress; and applied exercise physiology. Applicants are sought who can complement these research areas or expand the current profile in to new areas and who value working collaboratively.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate in exercise science, or related field
• Previous teaching experience in Exercise Science
• Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Exercise Science
• A clear research agenda in Exercise Science

Preferred Qualifications:
• Professional certification such as ACSM EP-C or NSCA CSCS
• Post-doc or prior experience in a faculty position
