Position Summary:

The Department of Chemistry at The University of Alabama seeks an outstanding individual with expertise at the interface of the metallome and the microbiome to fill a position at the Professor rank beginning as early as August 16, 2017. This position will be part of a cluster of positions with the departments of Biological Sciences and Human Nutrition at The University of Alabama. The successful candidate is expected to have a highly visible research program, an established record of sustained research funding, and an interest in building a strong consortium of scientists within the scope of microbiome research. Research in the microbiome of nutritional relevance involving molecular imaging, focusing on the location and movement of metal ions and metal-containing molecules, or nutritional biochemistry, focusing on the molecular mechanism of metal transport and homeostasis, is of particular interest. The ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate chemistry courses is required and teaching responsibilities will be in the candidate’s area of expertise.
